Truck dimensions and truck trailer dimensions have a very important place in the transportation industry. For this reason, those who do transportation business or want to receive this service need to have information about truck dimensions and truck trailer dimensions.

Truck and Trailer dimensions are the legally determined maximum width, height and length dimensions of trucks. These dimensions are determined so that transportation trucks can travel on the roads safely. Truck dimensions may vary from country to country.

In Turkiye it is as below:

• The width of the truck must be 2.60 meters, excluding the platform and trailer on which it carries the load.
• The height of the truck must be 4.20 meters, excluding the platform and trailer on which it carries the load.
• The length of the truck, including tractor and trailer, must be 18.75 meters.

Another important point to know about truck dimensions is the weight limits. The maximum weight that trucks can carry may vary depending on the country's regulations.

The maximum weight that trucks can carry in Turkiye is as follows::

• Maximum weight of 6-axle trucks is 44 tons,
• Maximum weight of 5-axle trucks is 40 tons,
• Maximum weight of 4-axle trucks is 32 tons,
• Maximum weight of 3-axle trucks is 24 tons.

The maximum weight that trucks with more axles can carry is 8 tons more per axle.

Truck dimensions decide the dimensions and weight of the truck. The dimensions of trucks are determined in terms of load-carrying capacity, usable space and safety. The weight of the trucks is determined within the framework of legal limits and if exceeded, serious sanctions are applied. Standards regarding truck dimensions in Turkiye are specified in the Road Transport Regulation. In this regulation, the dimensions, heights, widths and weights of trucks are specified.

The truck dimensions specified in the regulation are as follows::

• Length: Maximum 16,50 meters
• Width: Maximum 2,60 meters
• Height: Maximum 4 meters
• Weight: Maksimum 40 tons

In Turkiye, legal regulations regarding truck dimensions are important in terms of the carrying capacity of trucks, traffic safety and environmental protection. For this reason, companies operating in the logistics sector must have information about truck dimensions and act following legal regulations. Truck trailers can be designed in different ways. Some of these are those:

• Standard Flatbed Trailer: It is a type of trailer that does not have horizontally opening covers and is generally used to transport long loads. Flatbed trailers, which can reach a height of up to 3.00 meters, are produced with double or single axles. Its huge difference and benefit at the same time is that it can be unloaded from all sides. This trailer is most convenient for transporting large and heavy cargo in a trailer. Flatbed trailers are opened from all sides, there is no outside container that covers the cargo. Often, it is protected by a tarp that is securely fastened.
• Dry Van Trailer: These are trailers with closed sides and a height of up to 2.60 meters. Closed trailers can be produced with double or single axles and are suitable for transporting all kinds of materials. They are enclosed trailers used when you need to protect the transported goods from the weather conditions on the road. They are common as you can use them to transport almost every type of cargo, and they are one of the cheaper options when it comes to trailers and add another security level to the transport, as they protect the cargo from weather and other security threats. Transport companies use it for daily items shipping of large corporations such as clothing or non-perishable goods.
• Frigo-Refrigerated​/Reefer Trailer: This is a type of trailer used to transport products that require a cold chain. These trailers have a height of up to 2.60 meters and are equipped with a cold air blower system. If the transported cargo is perishable and needs to be carried at a certain temperature, refrigerated trailers are the ones for the job. Its ability to control the temperature in the trailer is perfect for trucks that mostly transport food, frozen products, or pharmaceuticals.
• Tanker: A vehicle used to transport liquids and gases. Oil and chemical-derived products are generally transported in tankers.
