Rooted in the unyielding textile traditions of Anatolia, this piece stands as a living testament to cultural preservation, spiritual sanctuary, and raw artistic resonance. The original fabric was lovingly hand-crafted by master artisan Arife Algül, carrying within its threads the tactile memory of human touch and timeless craft.
Originating from the rugged highlands of Sırçoban, Amasya—the historic land of the Head Shepherds (Serçoban)—this woven textile derives directly from the traditional protective garments worn by the regional guardians. For generations, these fabrics served a dual purpose: an impenetrable defense against nature’s harsh elements, and a symbolic, sacred shield protecting the bearer's dignity and spirit as they watched over the land.
Reimagined here through a contemporary lens as the Aegis—the mythical ultimate shield—the physical tapestry transcends its earthly boundaries into the cosmic expanse. The vibrant spectrum of light and the intricate, organic network of the weave mirror the lattice of the universe itself. It is a profound tribute to lineage, transforming a deeply personal ancestral artefact from Amasya into an eternal symbol of divine protection, transformation, and artistic rebirth.
Amasya city: The Cradle of Emperors and Sacred Mysteries
A timeless sanctuary where history and mysticism meet. As the legendary birthplace of the Mithridatic cult—home to hidden royal tombs yet to be unearthed—Amasya served as the regal retreat for Roman emperors and the academy for Ottoman Princes (Şehzade). Crowned by the sacred heights of Kırklar Dağı (The Mount of the Forty), it remains a profound metaphysical realm of divine heritage and spiritual protection."
Mithridatic Culture / Sarcophagus: It adds an air of ancient mystery to the culture of Mithridates and the legend of the as-yet-undiscovered sarcophagus—location of the transition from paganism to Christianity.
Ottoman Princes (Şehzade) & Roman Emperors: It emphasises the Roman and Ottoman administrative vision and its "recreation/education/authorization to conquer places" feature.
Mount of the Forty / Metaphysical Threshold: It expresses the spiritual, invisible, and sacred (metaphysical) dimension of Mount Kırklar in a poetic language accessible to an international readership. Meeting point of Greenman and the Forties (Folkloric Belief).

Mızrabın Gölgesi (The Shadow of the Plectrum): The deep, melancholic, yet proud core of traditional folk music. Every strike of the plectrum against the string is a timeless echo carrying the unsaid words of the past into the present.
